1/4 divied 3/8

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

do you know the rule "kcf" - keep, change, flip

OpenStudy (justnick09):

8/3x4/1=32/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya switch the one and the three

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

i don't really know what you mean. but i will just show you how i think of kcf (probably u may also think it same): \[\frac{ 1 }{ 4 } \div \frac{ 3 }{ 8 }= \frac{ 1 }{ 4 } \times \frac{ 8 }{ 3 }= x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2/3 because the 32 gose in to eight and the eight gose into four and the four goes into two?

OpenStudy (justnick09):

oh ya hes right my bad

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

|dw:1391731962684:dw|when just multiply horizontally and u should get 8/12. or simple way is to cross reduce.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

sorry for the bad handwriting. but what this shows is that since 8 is divisible by 4, you can divide both by 4 (also known as cross reduce). so 8/4=2 and 4/4=1. so then u get 2/3

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

u dont have to use cross reduce. i just gave it to you if you wanted to know a simple way. but as long as you get the right answer, you can use any comfortable method you want.
