Write an equation and solve for the following: 14% of 65, What number is 36% of 294, 82% of what number is 73.8, 75 is what percent of 50?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u know what of means in math terms?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of=Multiplication. is= the equal sign Good!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so first you need to change the percent to a decimal right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right and that would be .14 for the first one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes Good!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so um then u will be able to write the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[.14\times65\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.14 * 65=? Correct!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the second one is like the same thing they are just trying to trick u by saying what number is..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And that equals 9.1 or 9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh and do u need to solve?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it needs to 9.1 because you never take off the decimal point unless it is .0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now I do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good Job!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

next one do u need help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll try this one on my own and I'l let you know. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I'm done So I got for the equation: \[.36\times294\] And the answer was 105.84

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes Good Job!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But now since I estimate I get 106 is that correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes an estimate is 106 correct!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I'm good now. I'll let you know if I need anymore help. Thank you for helping me! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your Very welcome so should i stay in this question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Great Job!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you would like to,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow I already need help..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ha! it is fine..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You did a AMAZING job!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

=)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So how do I do the second one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

remember what i said about the meaning of "of" and "is"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i think you should use a variable..
