If anyone is good with Absolute Value Functions, can you help me?
Mind posting the question first? Then I'd be in a better position to respond.
If f(x)= |x+8|, find f(-11).
plug in -11 into the equation for x

yeah and you get...
Okay, so this is the part I'm confused on, do I add them first and then change the sum to a positive or do I change the -11 to a positive first, and then add?

By all means combine what's inside the absolute value operator FIRST.
dont mind my hint i was thinking about radicals
Oh.. see, that's what I'm doing wrong.. So I add -11 and 8 and I get |-3| which is basically 3.
yeah
Oh, okay, thank you guys! :)
Ok, I worked out this one, did I do it right?|dw:1391841805002:dw|
That looks like it says f-2 it says f=2
I'm having some problems reading what you've typed. Would y ou please post this as a new question and type the function in as closely following the original problem statement as you can manage. f-2 is incorrect; I believe you mean f(-2) to indicate "the value of the function f(x) when x=-2"
Ok, I'll put a new question.
