OpenStudy (anonymous):

i keep getting 147. can you explain how you got 11 please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i am getting a different answer both ways i got 147 then again i got 42 so i went to google copied and pasted and it gave me 11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer in the back of the book says 11, I'm just trying to figure out how they got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya exactly im trying to figure tht out i have pencil and paper and still getting the same answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am so confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its… 4-1=3 then you would multiply 2x3, then 9-6, then 5=2 is 7, so 7=3=11???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5+2[9-2(4-1)] first add what inside () 5+2[9-2(3)] then multiply 2*3 5+2[9-6] then add 9 to -6 5+2(3) multiply 2*3 5+6=11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@elizabethanndrew did u understand it?

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

Simplify: 5+2(9-2(4-1)) Subract 1 from 4. 4-1= 3 5+2(9-2 ( 3)) multiply -2 and 3 together. 2x3 = -6 5+2(9+(-6)) subract 6 from 9 9-6=3 5+2(3) multiply 2 and 3 together. 2x3=6 5+6= 11 Therefore the answer is 11.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok. think i get it now @Abdulhameed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you @timaashorty
