Help?

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

With?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

interesting it could be C or it could be D

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

I'm pretty sure that's right, the only part that I might see where you got confused it the difference of 3 and a number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

I'm pretty sure the order does play a role here because what ever x is, it might change the outcome, seeing that is says 3 AND a number. I think its right putting 3 - x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the difference between 2 and 10? what is the difference between 10 and 2? not clear to me at all

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

difference means subtraction, so 2-101 = -8 10 - 2 = 8 I guess if its absolute value then.. >.>

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

2 - 10 = -8 *

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mathematically speaking, the difference between two numbers x and y is abs(x-y). However, the convention is that whichever number is said first is assumed to be bigger

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Why do people leave ;_;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause this is a stupid question written by a stupid math teacher the "difference between a number and 3" indeed

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

:O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One more question if y'all could be so kind

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you solve for a variable in a proportion?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it by Cross-Multiplication or do you multiply the 2 larger numbers together and then divide that answer by the smallest number?

OpenStudy (nikato):

i believe it is cross multiplication

hero (hero):

Quite hilarious @satellite73, but she got it correct.

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Well that was random ^

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Yeah, I'd go with cross-multiplication when your trying to solve proportions :3
