Find the absolute value |25|

hartnn (hartnn):

|a| = a if a> 0

hartnn (hartnn):

|a| = - a if a < 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i divided it to get 5 but i dont think it is right

hartnn (hartnn):

but why divide ?? |a| = a , if a>0 here 25 is >0 so |25| is just = 25 thats it !

hartnn (hartnn):

if there was negative number like, |-4| then you get |-4| = -(-4) = 4

Basically, easier way to explain, the absolute value will always be positive. So if you have a positive number, just keep the number the same If you have a negative number take away the negative symbol

Ex: |-5| = 5 |10| = 10

its 25. anything in the brackets is what it is unless its a negative and then its positive
