Choose the slope-intercept equation of the line that passes through the point shown and is perpendicular to the line shown. y = -three halvesx y = three halvesx - 6 y = -two thirdsx - 5 thirds y = two thirdsx - 13 thirds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i put y = three halvesx - 6

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Not quite...what's the slope of the new line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Well the slope of the line shown...is 2/3 right? so a line perpendicular to that would be the negative reciprocal right? so instead of 2/3 ...it would be -3/2 ...make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

And since there's only 1 answer choice with that...you have your answer quickly lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its just y = -3x + 2

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Where do you see an answer choice that has just -3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i ment to say so y = -three halvesx is the answer A. or the first one

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

That is correct!
