I am just curious. What should your heart rate/pulse be AFTER you exercise?

OpenStudy (tanya123):

have you searched online ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, but they just give me the resting and the heart beat while you exercise. And every time I exercise I forget to check my pulse afterward and yeaaa. :/

OpenStudy (tanya123):

Age Target HR Zone 50-85% Average Maximum Heart Rate, 100% 20 years 100-170 beats per minute 200 beats per minute 30 years 95-162 beats per minute 190 beats per minute 35 years 93-157 beats per minute 185 beats per minute 40 years 90-153 beats per minute 180 beats per minute 45 years 88-149 beats per minute 175 beats per minute 50 years 85-145 beats per minute 170 beats per minute 55 years 83-140 beats per minute 165 beats per minute 60 years 80-136 beats per minute 160 beats per minute 65 years 78-132 beats per minute 155 beats per minute 70 years 75-128 beats per minute 150 beats per minute

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, but that is the target heartbeat not the post right?

OpenStudy (tanya123):

you means pulse right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea, pulse and heart rate are the same thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right? lol

OpenStudy (tanya123):

yes it is...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well thanks for your help, but I am going to exercise and try and remember to take my pulse afterward lol

OpenStudy (tanya123):

lol, yup you should !

OpenStudy (blues):

In that moment when you go from walking to running, there is some overshoot - your heart rate is still closer to a running pace than a walking pace. After that it will return to whatever it was before you started exercising. How quickly it returns to normal (i.e., recovers from the stresses you imposed on it) is a measure of how well conditioned you are.

Thanks @blues that makes a lot of sense!!
