Why does conflict arise between Smaug and the Lake-men? A. The Master tries to convince Smaug to part with some of the treasure. B. Smaug knows the Lake-men helped the dwarves. C. Bilbo steals a cup from Smaug's hoard. D. Bard and the Lake-men defend themselves against Smaug when he attacks their town. - I believe its d or b, I read the book a few weeks ago so don't remember much.
@IJustWantToGraduate @elle_girl_0201 @evilbrand97
I would say D. (again what? so many D's) Smaug did attack the village and the villagers did nothing to disturb him, that was Bilbo's fault. The Lake-men left him alone until he attacked.
Okay, thanks and ya I'm really hoping these are correct answers >-< @IJustWantToGraduate
I'm like 97% positive they are
kk lol, can i ask the other questions too?
How is the conflict between the dwarves and Bilbo similar Bilbo's inner conflict? A. The dwarves have the same doubts about Bilbo's worth and heroism that Bilbo has about himself. B. The dwarves suspect that Bilbo will turn on them, just as Bilbo imagines that he might betray his own values. C. The dwarves fear what they will do to Bilbo as much as Bilbo fears what he might do to himself. D. The dwarves dislike Gandalf just as much as Bilbo dislikes himself. - I don't really know this one, my guess is a or b, idk about c but d just sounds crazy.
@IJustWantToGraduate
It's A. They complained the whole way about a hobbit joining them and Bilbo even thought himself useless.
Which is an example of stereotyping? A. Bard thinks Thorin is foolish because he refuses to share the treasure. B. Bilbo fears the Wargs because they are allies of the goblins. C. The goblins hate the party because they carry the sword Ocrist. D. The eagles always stop whatever wickedness they catch the goblins doing. I believe its B because it doesn't give specifics in the answers and b seems the most correct because he doesn't know if their all that bad but because their ally's with the goblins he fears them, is that correct or no? @IJustWantToGraduate
t his ones a bit more difficult, but I believe that B sounds the most correct as well (:
Read this passage: "He came up again sputtering and clinging to the wood like a rat, but for all his efforts he could not scramble on top. Every time he tried, the barrel rolled round and ducked him under again. It was really empty, and floated light as a cork. Though his ears were full of water, he could hear the elves still singing in the cellar above. Then suddenly the trapdoors fell to with a boom and their voices faded away. He was in the dark tunnel floating in icy water, all alone...." Which words best describe the mood this passage creates? A. wistful and sad B. hopeful and silly C. frantic and worrying D. relaxed and pleasant - Idk this one really at all, I'm bad at telling the mood of a story unless its unbelievably blatant XD @IJustWantToGraduate
Well, by the part "He was in the dark tunnel floating in icy water, all alone...." I say that sounds pretty sad, so A. [: and it's fine, I don't mind helping!
Why do the goblins react with such great emotion when they see that Thorin has the sword they call Ocrist? A. To the goblins, the sword is a symbol of victory and joy. B. To the goblins, the sword is a symbol of violence and terror. C. To the goblins, the sword is a symbol of hope and love. D. To the goblins, the sword is a symbol of confusion and mistakes. - B right? because the sword was used to kill many goblins right?
@IJustWantToGraduate
B is right! It was explained as "the sword that sliced a thousand necks" I imagine it would be Violence and Terror
Which best describes a consequence of Tolkien's decision to set The Hobbit in Middle-earth rather than a real place? A. The setting allowed him to give his novel a happy ending rather than a tragic one. B. The setting allowed him to write about a heroic figure who goes on a quest. C. The setting allowed him to invent all different kinds of imaginary creatures, myths, and gods. D. The setting allowed him to write about characters who had flaws and did not always do the right thing. - I don't get this one because they don't seem like consequences except for d so idk @IJustWantToGraduate
