Need help on how to solve question about radicals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[12\sqrt{245}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to know how to make that into simplest radical form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know how to solve radicals i just don't understand how to solve them with a number in front such as 12 in this problem

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

The number out front multiplies whatever you take out. I'll do it with the multiply dots so you can see it a step at a time. \(12\sqrt{245}=12\cdot\sqrt{245}=12\cdot\sqrt{5\cdot 49}\) \(=12\cdot\sqrt{5\cdot 7 \cdot 7}=12\cdot7\cdot\sqrt{5}\) \(=84\cdot\sqrt{5}=84\sqrt{5}\)
