enzymes: description ( what does it do)? example.
i'll try that, hold on
it didn't give me a short description and i don't have much time, do you have any ideas as for a description of what wnzymes are and an example?
An example: lactase and description... "Enzymes are biological catalysts that speed up metabolc reactions"
next one, hormones, sma thing description and example
oops same
Nerdy is right :). Basically, a catalyst is something that increases the rate of a chemical reaction. An enzyme is a biological catalyst. So for an example, there are enzymes in your digestive system that help speed up the digestion of your food :).
As for hormones, they are a regulatory substance that travel through the blood stream. The pituitary gland is were many hormones are made/stored. The hormone oxytocin is produced in the hypothalamus and stored in the pituitary gland. It stimulates the uterus to contract and begin labor. It also stimulates the let-down reflex in the breasts to get milk flowing for breastfeeding.
Thank You! :)
transport protein is next
A transport protein is a protein that serves the function of moving materials within an organism. They are vital to growth. Transport proteins are most often globular proteins :)
Medal please :D
coming at yaq right now
Thank you! Are those all the questions you needed help with?
actually there's a loot more, next one is immunoglobins or antibodies
Just wondering, what is this for?
a biology assignment that was due today, don't worry its not for a test
Ok. I'm just wondering how much of the textbook reading you did. All of this is information that I'm sure was in some sort of reading material. This is all just basic definitions.
i don't have the textbook for this, sorry * sad face *
i'm in my after school program and my teacher has already left so i can't get the stuff i need either is why i'm using this website
oh ok. Well I will do a few more, but I have to go soon. An antibody is a protein in the blood that is produced in response to and counteracting an antigen. They combine chemically with 'alien' products in the blood, or something that doesn't belong there. This can be viruses, bad bacteria, and any other kind of foreign substance. Not really sure what an example of one would be.
its, ok, next one, structural proteins, and when you have ti gi if i stil have time i'll ask ashleyisakitty, but the next one is structural proteins
I actually have to go now :( Sorry! I hoped I helped a little bit though. Good luck!
you deffonately did, thanksley123, ttyl
next round of proteins assignment from biology, the next protein is structural proteins
