Can anyone please explain why acceleration is squared? and why the square goes away in the answer to a problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what? o.O Can you mention the context? or an example?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what a question .. ;p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

acceleration is rate of change of velocity i.e. change of velocity per time. velocity unit is meter per second now for acceleration it becomes (meter per second)per second now that is meter per second square so that is

OpenStudy (masumanwar):

acceleration is the time rate of change of velocity and velocity is the time rate of change of displacement therefore it appeared as the squared rate of change of displacement with time although it is not apeared in unit only second
