About the factors that contributed to the rise of fascism, and how these related to WWI and the Great Depression.
The "Treaty of Versailles" terms that where imposed on Germany where felt by the Germans to be unduly harsh, mind you when the great depression hit the Deutschmark was already almost worthless, this combined with the thought that they had not been beaten in the actual war[Mind you WW1 was for the most part fought in french and Russian soil, not German] allowed political extremists [either the fascists or communists] to have willing members in their parties.
In this case it was the National Socialists who ended up as the political party of Germany and not the communist party.
Needs to be cleaned up a good deal, and it depends on how indepth the essay needs to be, but the general idea you should hit on is: 1. The Germans where very poor due to the Great Depression and Treaty of Versailles and where willing to go to anyone who said they had a solution [i.e extremists] and 2. Some Germans felt betrayed by their government [i.e surrendering when there wasn't a need to] Fill in the gaps maybe [tactics used by the Nazi's to actually seize power] and you got your self a paper.
