OpenStudy (vshiroky):

Graph the line y+5x=4

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Any ideas?

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

I think its y=-5x+4 So I could do (0,4) and (not sure for the second point

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Very good. Use the idea of "slope" to get a second point.

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

so (-5/1,0)?

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

If its rise over run why would we move the number down? That's not really rising lol if that makes sense

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Yes, that does make perfectly good sense if the number was positive.

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

That's what I thought it was

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

In your diagram the "run" is towards the left which is also negative.

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

Hmm. I'm lost

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

What happens to the 4 then when it is y=-5/1x+4 Where are my points?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

The 4 stays fixed on the y-axis, because it is the y-intercept.
