before you can answer, you have to get x "by itself" that means no minus sign. you have -x > 3 one way to do this, is add + x to both sides -x + x > 3 + x simplify the left side: -x + x = 0, so you have 0 > 3 + x next, add -3 to both sides -3 > x or x < -3 (the pointy end of the > or < points at the smaller number) this says x is less than -3. Open circle , line going to the left

the other way people solve this -x > 3 is use the rule "when you multiply or divide by -1, FLIP the relation operator" so we multiply both sides by -1: -1* -x -1*3 x -3 and then change the > to < x < -3
