hey guys i just started MIT 6.00 intro CS (OCW) i wanted to ask if this is the beginning of a full complete course that would if paid for give me a full CS degree or is there resources missing. basically im asking if this open course is limited to the paid version. oh and is buying the book for this course absolutely necessary, also please suggest some free sources that you found most useful for the this course.
CS degree requires you take a lot of classes. You expect to get one from a single class?
I don't think that was what he was asking. It's the full course, with lectures, as well as the reading (you don't have to buy the book) The only resource missing is the actual professor and the course credit. If you follow the syllabus and understand the content, you're not missing out on anything. It's a good start, and yes it is the beginning of the course of study (classes) that would end in a CS degree if you were traditionally enrolled.
I just started, too. Not planning on getting the (very expensive) textbook either. I just figured out that I have to download the materials in the syllabus and each unit as I go along, or else feel extremely lost by Lecture 2, haha. I already downloaded Python and have IDLE…so let the adventure begin.
