Describe how you would estimate the square root of a number that is not a perfect square. (Without using a calculator.) But you can use a calculator but put as if you didn't use a calculator.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

got any in mind? say give us a value that is NOT a perfect square, let's see how it looks when simplified

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Figure out the perfect square that is bigger than your number and the perfect square that is smaller than your number. For example...I want the square root of 93 I know that is betwee 81 (9 squared) and 100 (10 squares) So the answer is 9.something.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9.what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just say 9.5....You're just estimating so pick the middle

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hhehe, lemme give you say one can you ESTIMATE the square root of say 7 ? \(\large \bf \sqrt{7}=\square ?\) what do you think it MIGHT BE? can it be 5? what about 1? or 3? can it be 6?
