Simplify the rational expression. State any restrictions on the variable. https://i.imgur.com/W8Vh9v0.png

OpenStudy (mathmale):

First of all, look at the denominator of the given fraction. What values can x NOT have, and why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

set x^4-7x^2+10=0, and solve for restriction of dividing by 0

OpenStudy (domebotnos):

I'm not sure what values x can't have but I know n can't be a value that makes the denominator equal to zero I think. If I factor the denominator I get (n^2-2) (n^2-5) So from the answer choices it has to be b or c.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(n^2-2)=0 (n^2-5)=0 solve for n

OpenStudy (mathmale):

DB: You are correct in saying, "I'm not sure what values x can't have but I know n can't be a value that makes the denominator equal to zero I think."

OpenStudy (mathmale):

larryboxaplenty is correct when he asks you to set x^4-7x^2+10=0. This is a fourth order polynomial, so theoretically it could have four roots. Larry's factoring is correct; does it make sense to you? If not, let's talk.

Sadly, I don't think so. You could always message him/her
