How would you classify this triangle? A. isosceles B. right C. equiangular D. scalene

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what triangle?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

since you'll probably see questions like this one again, why not look up all four of the triangles listed and make notes of what you find. Then compare your drawings with that of the given triangle and decide which one is closest to the given triangle. That'll give you your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isosceles, only two sides are congruent to each other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay so for it to be a triangle two of the sided have to be congruent to each other

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Yes. Now you have a name and an illustration for one of the four types listed. Why not go just a little further and find an example of each of the remaining three triangles? and then keep your notes for later reference? to answer your question: a triangle that has two equal sides (that is, two congruent sides) is an isosceles triangle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's for it to be a isosceles triangle, yes.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Maria, would you please draw a "right triangle" now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but what about this would it be D because i dont see two congruent sides |dw:1392592655570:dw| Which of the following triangles in the figure is isosceles? A. CDF B. CFE C. DFE D. none of the above
