OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x+5y=25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you trying to find x and y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then they are both 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are both 2.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahaha no way it is 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@DragonFlame i know i just didn't read the question right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@traiely do you have a answer choice?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh sorry im new at this and im super stupid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well actually I don't really know how to explain it, I just started at one and multiplied by 5 and I kept adding .5 until I solved the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, for your question don't you have like A,B,C,D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*point 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, I will explain this question to you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25/2=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or 25/5 and then 5/2 which would equal the same as 25/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I divided it by 2 because there are 2 numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25/2=12.5 5*?=12.5?? 12.5/5=2.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So @notgoodatmathguy12 is right but he was just a little confused on how to explain it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 2.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both y and x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1392676829220:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol thanks hunn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np ^.^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (uri):

What? lelel That's not how you do it..:o OMG MATH RAPED.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or are x and y 5? XD

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Wth... @traiely are you solving for the x and y intercepts?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes @tHe_FiZiCx99

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Ok, to find the y intercept set x for 0 and solve to find the x intercept set y for 0 So for x, 5x + 5y = 25 5x + 5(0) = 25 /5 /5 x = 5 or (5,0) Same for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x is 5 and 0 is y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

>.< That is what I did in the beginning but than the + messed me up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or are they both 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now what about -4x-4y=-64

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

The question is so broad... you said you're solving for the intercepts, so do the same thing I did to solve for x to solve for y. What's the original question?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

traiely: A lot of this discussion could have been avoided (made unnecessary) if only you had provided the instructions for this problem. For example: If x^2 + y^2 = r^2, Identify the center and radius. Find the area of the figure. What y values could be produced if x = 3? (These are strictly examples.) So, again, when you present a problem, present the instructions with it. Good luck!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Here are examples of what you might have done with your original problem: If 5x + 5y = 25, follow these instructions: (1) simplify the given equation as much as possible. Answer: divide all terms by 5: x + y = 5. (2) graph the figure representated by this equation. Answer: the graph is that of a straight line with y-intercept (0,1) and x-intercept (1,0).
