6. Open circles denote all numbers up to the number, not including the number. It would be used when the inequality sign is "less than" or "greater than." Closed denote all numbers up to the number, including the number. It would be used when the inequality sign is "less than or equal to" or "greater than or equal to." Any inequality where x < n or x <= n should be shaded to the left. Likewise, any inequality where x>n or x>=n should be shaded to the right, where n is a number on the number line.
