Which statement about Hitler's treatment of European Jews is correct? A. Most of the Jews in Europe fled to the United States in the years before World War II. B. I'd definitely go with (B) because that's what ultimately happened. The other answers won't work. Here's why: (A) sounds like it could be right, but in reality, doesn't work. While many Jews left Germany itself, quite a few stayed behind believing that the whole "Nazi thing" would blow over and things would return to normal. Jews in other countries, like France, didn't see the need to flee until they were taken over by Hitler, either, and the round-ups began with the help of collaborators. (C) doesn't work, either. Jews were most certainly discriminated against and their rights were slowly taken away in a series of measures that severely restricted their activities within the Third Reich and made them subject to all kinds of abuse. (D) also doesn't work because it wasn't Hitler's persecution of the Jews alone that drew the US into declaring war against Germany.
