Find the symmetry of x^4-8x^+15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't know what its asking.... sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

axis of symmytry

OpenStudy (ryamorgan284):

ill try to help[ hold on though okay?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

should that be 8x^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhhh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes sorry 8x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cqr i think is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that helps lol

OpenStudy (ryamorgan284):

i can only simplify and factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm..

OpenStudy (ryamorgan284):

https://www.mathway.com/ try this it can help you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well wait

OpenStudy (ryamorgan284):

whats up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that the axis of symmetry of a quadratic funtion is -b/2a but this isnt quadratic

OpenStudy (ryamorgan284):

oh oh trythe site it can help you a lot in math trust me

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

it factors to (x^2 - 3)(x^2 - 5) giving 4 real zeroes +/- sqrt3 and +/- sqrt5 - the zeroesare equidistant from x=0 so the line of symmetry is x=0 ( or the y-axis)

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

it will look something like this ( 2 quadratics) |dw:1392768603138:dw|
