Can someone help me think of ideas for a persuasive essay? The topic is "Societies afraid to develop will not succeed", and I've been stuck on it for quite a while lol. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

well have you thought of any topics

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, the topic is "Societies afraid to develop will not succeed." My teacher HATES essays that are cliche, so here's what I have so far: The greatest success comes from the perseverance and sacrifices throughout our lifetimes. This requires us to reach further in depths and fight with everything we have .

Since it is an essay, i think you should come up with 3 points that are linked to the main point of your essay. A persuasive essay, is like an argumentative essay but only biased since it's from your point of view

"Societies afraid to develop will not succeed" I agree with what galacticewavesXX said about a persuasive essay. You should, though, include the other side of this statement in your argument. You said that your teacher hates clichés, but this is asking you to argue that a society afraid to develop will fail - while also arguing the opposite side of how it could stand. You might consider using examples of ancient civilizations and tying it into your history lessons, if you can; it seems as if it'd be simpler that way. Your idea of perseverance also seems like it'd be a good theme to incorporate into your essay. Here are some thoughts that might be helpful to include: * There cannot be success without failure * Gradual evolution towards an achievement is better than hurried creation (which would stunt development) And, lastly: * To be stuck in one's old ways is not to progress at all. Hopefully this helped! This is my first answer... You should try to compare examples of civilizations and see how they progressed. You might also want to tie it into modern times and how fear can hold people back as individuals, which would in turn affect the masses (like if someone important *cough* the president *cough* refused to make tough choices out of weakness). If this is too long, there's also a little thing below to illustrate what I meant with some examples (if you're a visual person, like me) : - |dw:1392800411980:dw|
