V=bhl V=7*20*24=? Got it from here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Got it! :)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Generally, the volume of such a figure is simply V = Base * Height. Let the triangular end of the prism be the Base. Let the length of the prism be the Height. Find those separately, and then multiply them together. What is the area of the end of the prism, which I've called the Base?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

JaneDoe: V=l*w*h would be appropriate for a rectangular prism, but not for this prism with a triangular cross-section.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is a right triangular prism

OpenStudy (anonymous):

O.O

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Yes, it is. How do you defend your statement that its volume is V = l*w*h?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AHHH!!!! i forgot the 1/2!!!!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Right. Instead of V=l*w*h, why not use v=(base*height/2)(length?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

then (base*height)/2 is the area of the triangle. Multiply that by the length of the prism.
