When finding the Ionic equation of a reaction between two compounds how do you determine where the atoms 'break' up? ex HC2H3O2 + NH3

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Welcome to OpenStudy. I'm not sure if there's a way to tell besides knowing the ions contained in the compounds itself. You will have to practice and eventually memorize them I think.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

hmm for this example, it's just an acid-base reaction. |dw:1392948212728:dw| But as wolfe8 said, only with practice will you be able to recognize what these are and how they behave.
