What the hell is ascending order? Really frustrated. help is appreciated. Identify the polynomial written in ascending order. 8x3+ 2x2- 6x - 11 2x2- 11 + 8x3- 6x -6x + 8x3- 11 + 2x2 -11 - 6x + 2x2+ 8x3
Think about a stair case. When you ascend the stairs, you walk up the stairs. Ascending order means from `smallest` to `largest`.
ah okay. so the smallest number to the largest.
In this case, order refers to the `exponents`.
hmm i dont see exponents
Yah they're a little hidden on a few of them. That's just notation you need to get used to in algebra. Let's look at this one a sec. \[\Large\bf\sf -6x+8x^3-11+2x^2\]
Another way we can write it is like this:\[\Large\bf\sf -6x^1+8x^3-11x^0+2x^2\] Anything to the 0 power is just one. So -11(times 1) is the same as -11times x^0.
hm.ok
Hmm so you can see the exponents now, yes? They count 1, 3, 0, 2... hmm no good.
so would it be 11x0 then -6x then 2x then 8x?
"so would it be 11x0 then -6x then `2x^2` then `8x^3`?" Yes, good!
oh fabulous
