@kelliegirl33 Can you explain this problem to me please? (4a + 2b)(a – b)
(4a + 2b)(a - b) solve it the same way as the others, using the FOIL method. 4a^2 + 4ab + 2ab - 2b^2 4a^2 + 6ab - 2b^2
When I use the foil method, I get confused on the negative signs. Am I supposed to subtract or multiply?
wait..I think I messed up.. (4a + 2b)(a - b) multiply first numbers in each set....4a * a = 4a^2 multiply outside numbers in each set...4a * -b = -4ba multiply inside numbers in each set...2b * a = 2ba multiply outside numbers i each set...2b * -b = -2b^2 combine them 4a^2 - 4ba + 2ba - 2b^2 -- combine like terms 4a^2 - 2ba - 2b^2
Oh, thank you @kelliegirl33.
I understand how it can get confusing....I even mess up on them sometimes..lol
Yeah, I study everymorning from 9-12
thats good. If you keep practicing, you will be the one helping others with their homework
ty :)
anytime :)
@♥Cappuccino♥ When I use the foil method, I get confused on the negative signs. Am I supposed to subtract or multiply? Definitely multiply. You may be multiplying a negative quantity by a positive one: (-2)(3)=-6, and so on.
Okay, thank you @mathmale
