Please help. I dont know if this is the right subject to put this question but, can you please help me with this question? How did he get this vector diagram? I really can't think of a reason why..
The vector diagram has been flipped
What do you mean?
Sorry I can't understand. I am new to this topic
It looks like the drawn vector diagram is a mirror image of the one printed
Who drew the vector diagram?
You can see the pdf here. I really can't understand how to create vector diagram.. No idea how to start or end. I ddn't understand what my teacher taught us. http://academics.utep.edu/LinkClick.aspx?link=Dynamics+Short+Test+Monday,+March+7+Solution.pdf&tabid=8561&mid=32485
ok notice the vector diagram drawn? It's a triangle. Turn that triangle until you can fit it onto the printed triangle and you'll see how it was done. Does that "sorta" make sense?
get the angles to overlap/match
Nothing has been flipped at all. If the rod is going down, then \(\vec V_A\) is vertical down and \(\vec V_B\) is along the plane. Then the vectorial equation \(\vec V_B =\vec V_A+\vec V_{B/A}\) will end up as one of the following triangles :|dw:1393788941968:dw|
Yea nothing is flipped.. see i marked your drawing.. to show you that the vectors that he has draw is exactly in the same direction as given in the question maybe your confusion arrived because, he shifted their relative locations? you are always free to shift positions of vectors.. anywhere.. (but not free to ROTATE them .. ) these are called as free vectors
