Germans agreed to stop fighting five weeks after the Battle of ________?
Are there any answer choices?
No there aren't. It's a short answer.
Did you discuss the Battle of the Sambre in your class at all? Does that sound familiar?
No we haven't. We had a couple of days off because of the weather but we never got to learn about that battle.
I'm going to guess that it is either the Battle of Argonne Forest or the Battle of the Sambre. Though they both happened much more than 5 weeks before the end of the war, they were the last "major" battles fought. I can't think any of any other battle that occurred after the Battle of the Sambre. That was in November of 1918.
What about Ypres?
The fifth and final Battle of Ypres was in October of 1918. 1 month before the Battle of the Sambre.
I have a question...Are we referring to the end of the war as November 11th, when the First Armistice at Compiègne was signed, or when the Treaty of Versailles was signed?
I believe it's the Treaty of Versailles
This is why I don't like dealing with World War 1. It can get confusing. :L
I'm going to go with the Battle of the Argonne Forest, since the teacher wouldn't have assigned a test without teaching us about the other two battles.
She talked about that one?
We discussed it in class. Mostly the casualties though.
Did you discuss the Battle of Cambrai?
or the Battle of the Canal du Nord? If not, the Battle of Argonne Forest is the only reasonable answer I can think of.
