x2+x-20/x^3-36x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you need to find x? Or do you just have to factor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Do you know how to simply your numerator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and simplify

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is why i am on here to get help

Your numerator isn't too difficult to simplify. You find two factors of 20, than when manipulated, can give you 1. In this case, it's 4 and 5. You get (x-4)(x+5) For your denominator, you have to take X out. So you'll get x(x2-36) You can then simplify your denominator. The square root of 36 is 6. If you know the term taking the difference of two squares, you'll end up getting this: X(x-6)(x+6) So you have this: (X-4)(x+5)/x(x+6)(x-6) From there, can you find x?

It's kinda difficult to explain online. :/
