.
If an object emits or reflects light
it must be the color white.
it cannot be a gas.
it has a smooth surface.
it can be seen by the eye.

"white" only reflects while black only absorbs
OpenStudy (roadjester):

@Homi Infared light can't be seen by the eye
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Light is not an object
OpenStudy (roadjester):
it's an EM wave
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It says object that can reflect or let through light @
OpenStudy (anonymous):
now if anything passes 100% light it wont be seen to naked eye, see meta materials (invisibility cloak for example wikipedia)

OpenStudy (roadjester):
"an object that emits or reflects light"
a flashlight is an object that emits light
a mirror reflects light
both are objects
OpenStudy (anonymous):
um, why don't we skip this question :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yeay roadjester is right but in that case none of the options stays valid
OpenStudy (anonymous):
well that's much better,...

It kinda makes sense for reflection but not emmission
OpenStudy (anonymous):
YEP LOL :P
OpenStudy (anonymous):
That's just wrong though. A jagged object can reflect light.
OpenStudy (roadjester):
tinted glass is not smooth
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yup :) every option can be wrong/right, i just think not enough information is given to justify any option.

When you get crappy questions like this , find a way to report it to your school, via email or w/e.
"it has a smooth surface" is a terrible correct answer. Gases can emit light, do they have smooth surfaces?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I got this same question on study island, and i put D and got it right
