"One hundred years of delay have passed since President Lincoln freed the slaves, yet their heirs, their grandsons, are not fully free. They are not yet freed from the bonds of injustice. They are not yet freed from social and economic oppression. And this Nation, for all its hopes and all its boasts, will not be fully free until all its citizens are free." In this excerpt from President Kennedy's 1963 Civil Rights Address the phrase "the bonds of injustice" most likely refers to:
one hundred years of delay before President Lincoln freed the slaves social and economic oppression of their heirs the hopes and boasts of this nation @mathmale
I'd suggest you look through the possible answers and eliminate the ones that make the least sense. Have you tried doing that? You might also judge for yourself how much "meat" (value) is in each possible answer. "before President Lincoln freed the slaves" has very little or nothing to do with "the bonds of injustice."
What does "injustice" mean? What does "bonds" mean in this context?
the third one? @mathmale
You know me by now. I'd like for you to justify your answer.
uhh cuz its a bond its both social and econimic for the heirs
@mathmale
OK. I think the third answer choice is by far the best. Nice work!
