Martin Luther King Jr. uses figurative language strategically throughout his letter to promote equality. How does the following instance help accomplish his purpose of challenging the church leaders to take action against racial injustice? Like a boil that can never be cured as long as it is covered up but must be opened with all its pus-flowing ugliness to the natural medicines of air and light, injustice must likewise be exposed, with all of the tension its exposing creates, to the light of human conscience and the air of national opinion before it can be cured.

I haven't the slightest idea. @Destinymasha
lol okay thanks anyways @poopsiedoodle
I think -- the boil is the [root] problem, which is racial injustice. As long as it is covered up -- nothing will change, nothing will happen -- we shouldn't expect progress, whatsoever. it should be opened and seen as the disgusting think it really is. Stop hiding it, expose it. -idk if that even answers anything lol
thing*
Still not sure how it relates to anything about church leaders though
haha - exactly lol
hmm.....but I think he is kinda upset at them -- for not taking action or not working against it, they are pretending as if it doesn't matter - as if they don't ''feel'' it.
it = racial injustice
what figurative language is being used?
metaphor
he compares injustice to a boil
