how many miles is one hour

OpenStudy (cggurumanjunath):

miles in distance hour in time speed in miles/hour

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im looking for a number of miles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That depends on how fast you are driving. If you are going 60mph, then you can go 60 miles in one hour, or 1 mile per minute. Just look at the speedometer on the car, the number being driven (60, 70, 80) tell you the mph, or miles per hour.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here are my choices A. 800 miles B. 196 miles C. 50 miles D. 5 miles

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

How fast?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

@lala525 what is the entire question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sam drove 200 miles in 4 hours. If he drives at a constant speed, how far did he drive in 1 hour? A. 800 miles B. 196 miles C. 50 miles D. 5 miles

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Distance traveled = rate*time traveled

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

$$\Huge D=r*t$$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhhhh the number

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

uhhhh try to learn please :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you just choose a b or c d

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

$$\Huge \text{Sam drove 200 miles in 4 hours. }$$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C) 50miles

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

How far in 1 hour?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes skull yes

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

@RobertoTB why are you giving away the answer? Will the student learn anything that way?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im closing this question robert help me already

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

How do you know it is right @lala525 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because there is a checking button to check

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

will there be one on your test?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no skull

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@lala525 : You could have saved yourself and skullpatrol much time by posting all of the original problem (including the instructions) up front. It was not until skullpatrol asked you, "@lala525 what is the entire question?" that your question became clear: "Sam drove 200 miles in 4 hours. If he drives at a constant speed, how far did he drive in 1 hour?" If Sam drives at a constant speed, then all you have to do to determine how far he drove in one hour is to reduce the fraction "200 miles in 4 hours":\[\frac{ 200 mi }{ 4 hr }=\frac{ 200 }{ 4 }mph\] Just reduce that fraction and you'll be done.
