MIT 6.189 A Gentle Introduction to Programming Using Python (OCW) 9 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do u see the lectures????clueless

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

6.189 did not come with lectures, well, not ones they put up for the public. Not all of the open MIT classes has the same list of things available. The 6.00 ones in 2008 and 2011 have videos.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How well do the 6.00 videos match up with the 6.189 course? Is there a sort of mapping table that goes 6.189 Lecture "x" links with 6.00 video "y"?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

6.00 is more advanced. It starts off assuming people know a little bit about programming. 6.189 was designed to fill in those gaps and was 4 or 5 weeks long. So anyone that did not know the basics would take the short course at the same time as the longer one. To be honest, if you watch the first videos here: http://thenewboston.org/list.php?cat=36 You will learn the absolute basics needed to get into the 6.00 stuff. Then use this as a reference: http://www.tutorialspoint.com/python/index.htm It has plenty of examples and explanations that can be looked up by data type. This can fill in any gaps on topics you don't see covered. It can act as a textbook in that respect. And this is an actual textbook that you can get for free: http://www.greenteapress.com/thinkpython/

That's a perfect answer, thanks!

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Nah, I meant to say first 10 videos. That would have made it perfect. After those 10, short videos you can understand the programming parts the professor does in 6.00.
