What is the volume of the prism to the nearest whole unit? 23 in^3 297 in^3 318 in^3 159 in^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

volume = length * width * height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do I multiply?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes you do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 297 in^3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so did I

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Great! Thank you so much. I wasn't sure weather to multiply or divide. Can you help with one more problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Here it comes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the volume of the triangular prism to the nearest whole unit? 392 ft^3 588 ft^3 1,176 ft^3 2,352 ft^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

volume for a triangular prism = 1/2 base * height * length

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer I got was 1,176 ft^3. But I think that's wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to half the base. so 7*4*21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

588 ft^3! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is what I got :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! By the way, what do you mean by half the base?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would I caculate to get the half base is what I'm trying to say.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the base would be the bottom of the triangle. In the diagram it is 14. you just half that.
