Find the lateral area of the regular pyramid. https://media.glynlyon.com/g_geo_2012/8/groupi74.gif

OpenStudy (littlebird):

Lateral area is the same as surface area, excluding the base.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i honestly have no idea how to do any of it. i just need to base this course lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pass*

OpenStudy (littlebird):

However, pyramids have additional rules. The lateral area of a regular pyramid is similar to that of prisms, but since each face is a triangle (or triangle-like), there is a factor of one half. The lateral area is thus half the slant height times the perimeter. The slant height is the distance from the vertex to the edge of the base where it is halfway between the base's vertices.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

do you know the pythagorean theorem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes & i just need answers lol if you could help with that, you will be my favorite. lol

OpenStudy (littlebird):

OpenStudy (littlebird):

You need to know the slant height to solve the problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.6*

OpenStudy (littlebird):

Assuming that the line in the middle of the pyramid is exactly in the center, the slant height would be the square root of 10.

OpenStudy (littlebird):

Since this is a square based pyramid, LA=2(slantheight)(basewidth) LA=2(sqrt(10))(2) = 4sqrt(10)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are a genious. thank you!!! and if you are willing, i have more problems... lol i have 2 more tries to pass this quiz thing...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find total area for the regular pyramid. https://media.glynlyon.com/g_geo_2012/8/groupi75.gif

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is like ( _ _ + _ _ sqrt _ )

OpenStudy (littlebird):

What is the 6 telling you? The slant height?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thats what it looks like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 72+24 sqrt 3 but i dont think thats right

OpenStudy (littlebird):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm i dont know this stuff confuses me and i need to pass it lol
