OK, do you understand the term?
characterization is the traits and actions of the character
Hmm, I would say it is the process of describing them.
ok, sorry
No, no. You said the key points and that is important. OK, so lets say the theme of the story is revenge. The characterization could be used to describe how this mild person was suddenly changed by drastic events and now they are out for revenge.
yes, very true.
the theme is like the moral of the story right?
So say Hamlet in Hamlet. He starts out sullen and others characterize him as just being morose. But from the instant he meets the ghost in the start, he is changing and this is reflected in how he is presented to the audience. His demeanor and clothing change. He is no longer the prince in black who mourns his father but becomes more the warrior out to do "justice" as he sees it.
The theme is not the moral. It is the key idea, and there are usually sub ideas. So love, friendship, war, things like that.
A moral, in contrast, is something that is taught. So in the theme of revenge in Hamlet, the moral at the end could be said that revenge did not really pay off because everyone died.
oh, okay
So characterization effects theme by displaying the characters traits and actions. What the character says and does is the story?
i just don't know what to write for this
I would say it is more like the characterization supports or exhibits the theme. If the theme is war, then people might have a military demeanor or clothes. If the theme is love, they might swoon or blush.
