Algebra 2 Math Help? 1. Which set of ordered pairs in the form of (x, y) does not represent a function of x? (1 point) {(0, 2), (1, –1), (2, 3), (3, –2)} {(0, –2), (1, 1), (2, 3), (3, –2)} {(0, 2), (–1, –1), (2, –3), (3, 2)} {(0, 2), (1, 2), (1, –2), (3, 2)}

The one that has two different y value for a specific value of x.

I don't understand this lesson at all. So that makes no sense to me lol. @radar

Look closely at the last choice. Note that for x = 1, y can be both a +2 and a -2. What does that tell you?

OpenStudy (radar):

Now for a different look, note that y has a value of 2 for x values of 0 and 3, that is o.k because x is at different values, only when x has a single value and there exists two different values of y. The last choice does have some problems. The points that disqualifies a function are (1, 2) and (1, -2).

Understanding may not come immediately, or even after reading the lesson. You have to study the examples, focus on the examples, then work plus practice and further discussion with your instructor, then more practice..........understanding will begin to shed its' enlightenment. One unit that I was in when young and in the U.S. Army had the motto; "I'll try Sir." That's all anyone can ask of you, just try.
