Do animal cells have vacuoles? Do plant cells have lysosomes?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yes animal cell has vacuoles but very small

OpenStudy (secret66):

Plants cells do not have lysosomes..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shrutipande9. But what about the large things that store fats in adipose cells? @secret66. So then What do plants use to break down foreign materials or debris within the cell?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

i dont think they r present in vacuoles....these fats being hydrophobic form micelle like formation and this droplet is covered by perilipins etc etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess so. Thank @shrutipande9.

OpenStudy (secret66):

I don't know about that. I have studied about them but i forgot, sorry! Though i know that plant cells do not have lysosomes. Animal cells have them. I'll ask that from my teacher if you really want to know that. (The answer will be give within 24 hours) Sorry it took too long to type that but i left ;)

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

the role of lysosomes in plants is carried out by lytic vacuoles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Apparently there is debate on this. Some scientist say that plant cells have lytic vacuoles and others say that they do have lysosomes. The difference between vacuoles and vesicles is more or less the size difference I think. So that might be that answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It can't be viewed under microscopes so that is probably why there is debate.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yes yes....

OpenStudy (secret66):

Yep! And ff you need anymore help just tag me. I am sure to come and answer it asap.

OpenStudy (anonymous):
