[6.03] What is the value of the y variable in the solution to the following system of equations? 5x + 4y = 1 4x + 3y = -1 -7 7 9 -9
Get rid of the x by subtituion
so i multiply the first one by 4 and the bottom one by 5 right
Get Y alone for one of these. 4x+3y=-1. Do this by subtracting 4x on both sides which will leave you this, 3y=4x-1 then divide 3 by both sides again. y=4/3-1/3. Take that Y and replace it by the top. Do the distutive property for that one
ok 1 sec let me try it
I'm still confused
It's best to keep that fraction into decimals. If you end up with more decimals in the final result then your mostly likely doing something wrong. (Usually) Make sure to find x as the rest will be easier. Use thoses answer to try to find Y and you should get both answer
ok i'll try again
i'm getting stuck on one part every time
Here, since they give you the y parts, use all of those and work backwards. I am currently working on doing the forward method
The fractions are in my way, so I am working around it
Pretty sure it's 9
Reverse that and all of the x and y are the same to get that answer
