@mathmale I see your still here, mind helping with this last one?

OpenStudy (nicole143):

Solve the equation. \[\frac{ 1 }{ x } = \frac{ 5 }{ x-4 }\]

OpenStudy (nicole143):

@MathLegend

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

1/x = 5/(x - 4) cross multiply (5)(x) = (1)(x - 4) 5x = x - 4 --- subtract x from both sides 5x - x = -4 4x = -4 -- divide both sides by 4 x = -4/4 x = -1 check.. 1/-1 = 5/(-1 - 4) -1 = 5/-5 -1 = -1 (correct) x = -1 any questions ?

OpenStudy (nicole143):

Can you put the cross multiply in the equation thing so I can see it?

OpenStudy (nicole143):

Also, where did the 5 go?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):
