can someone help me please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Start off by raising both sides of the equation to the 4th power...this will cancel out the 4th root on the left side \[\large (\sqrt[4]{500(x + 5)})^4 = 10^4\] \[\large 500(x + 5) = 10000\] Now what would you do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dnt know

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Well you want to solve for 'x' so you want to isolate it...so divide both sides by 500 \[\large x + 5 = 20\] And x = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=15?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Right...that's your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

No problem! Do you understand it though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have another one we can work on?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Okay yeah we can do that...and I'll try to explain it better
