OpenStudy (lieutenantgeneral):

A ramp leads up to a building. The top of the ramp is 5 feet above the ground, and the bottom is 15 feet from the building as shown. What is the length of the ramp? Round your answer to the nearest tenth of a foot. 5=height 15=length

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Oh you didn't see it in the last question? Pythagorean's Theorem |dw:1393864018407:dw| \[\large c = \sqrt{5^2 + 15^2} \]

OpenStudy (lieutenantgeneral):

my bad you have to find the length

OpenStudy (lieutenantgeneral):

but the numbers stay the same

OpenStudy (lieutenantgeneral):

isn't it what the triangle equals

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Well the length of the ramp is what in our case is the hypotenuse (labeled 'c' above) we have the height...and we have the width...we just need to know how long it is...that is found using the formula above
