Which pronoun agrees with the antecedent in the sentence? Either Jeremy or his friends left ______ books in my car. A. their B. his C. them D. there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

either a or b. i would go with A

OpenStudy (lovelyanna):

Thought so, thanks.

OpenStudy (lovelyanna):

@whpalmer4

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

We don't know the gender of Jeremy's friends, so "his" would quite possibly not be correct even if the sentence was "Either Jeremy of one of his friends left his books in my car" — "his" is certainly incorrect if we have a plural. There isn't a pronoun, and them isn't a possessive. A is correct answer.

OpenStudy (lovelyanna):

Wow @whpalmer4, you sure now how to explain things! I get it, thanks :)

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

I hope you meant to type "know" instead of "now" there :-)

OpenStudy (lovelyanna):

Oh, I'm soo sorry. Ya, thats what I meant :-P
