Which of the outer planets is MOST like Earth? How?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm i think venus cause it has plants

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's an inner planet.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry didnt read the other part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually its one of the outer moons not a planet

OpenStudy (barrelracer011):

Well, it's obvious Mars is the most similar to Earth. That not being a choice, let's do process of elimination. Jupiter, a big ball of liquid hydrogen, no oxygen or water with cold surface temperature and a magnetosphere so hot the sun would be surprised. Saturn, Jupiter's brother with winds worse than a tornado and pressure more intense than the deepest part of the ocean. As for Uranus and Neptune, imaging sitting in your freezer in the middle of Antarctica during a blizzard using a block of ice as a blanket while you eat a popsicle. Your astronomy class doesn't talk about which outer planet is most like Earth because none of them can come remotely close to earth. They all have the same gas ball quality with no solid surface, unbelievable temperatures, an atmosphere that could suffocate you with a few breathes, and enough gravity to make you feel like a million sumo wrestlers were sitting on top of you.
