How can I become the best poet ever?

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Writing until your fingers fall off

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll keep that in mind thanks :)

Slightly odd question to be honest. There's no specific answer here. I'd honestly say just by writing pieces that become famous. But, you never really know. Not everyone's writing gets expressed in the world. It's actually a challenge to. If you really do write poetry, @linda3 can help you get to this place to get your work out there. You can also post your own work in the Writing section on here for feedback. :) hope this helps.

keep your head up nd your eyes open

I will keep that in mind.. I wants to give my family a better life and future

Truth is... it's impossible to become the "best" poet ever. Not because you aren't good or because you'll never be great- because there is always room to grow. Now i'm sure you can agree with me that there's no such thing as a perfect essay because that essay could always get better. Keep in mind great poets like Edgar Allen Poe, Emily wingspaninson, and such... all of them where never known in their time. Although their work was great- not everyone liked them- but it was their originality that made them known throughout the centuries. It's what made them classics. They were able to offer something to the literary world of writing. This being said, you gotta ask yourself, do you want to become a poet to bring something new and unique to literature or do you want to do it for the money? -if you want to do it for the money, then that is what you'd call yourself a commercial writer. You write depending upon what is popular in the modern day society. If the thing today is "wolves" - people will read your poems about wolves. The downfall is ...at this current time in age- nobody is looking for poets. There's not a lot of publishers looking for some great poet to get their work signed and published. And most likely not everyone will like your work, they'll have their own different opinions. ~but that does not mean stop writing. A good writer never stops. My advice to you would be... -read (there is so much you can learn from when reading other people's works, look at their style examine how they did it.) -write (it's a good exercise to write every single day.) -discover (go beyond what you normally do when you write and try to discover on how far you can write and what different styles you can do.) -research (do your research!! You can't get far if you don't do your research and study why certain people were great poets.) -persevere (never give up, keep trying.) If you're looking into publishing your work here are some places that might except your work that you can start with... -CreateSpace (a self publishing company for independent authors that will be fully under your control of what happens in the publishing process) - https://www.createspace.com/ the downfall- you will not have your work be distributed in local bookstores- you would have to promote your own work. -AuthorHouse (another self publishing company for independent authors) - http://www.authorhouse.com/default.aspx although a lot of people say this is a good company I have worked with them and worked with people who hired them to publish their book and they were not so good. They I would say spam you until you agree to pay a certain amount of money and their final work isn't what you wanted. But this is just what happened to a handful of people I know, you could take the risk if you wanted to and try this company. -WritersCafe (an online publishing of your work where other writers and poets can view your work and critique you.) This place is more if you wanna test the waters/ if you are wondering if other people like what you have. - http://www.writerscafe.org/ Before you can go into the big publishing companies you'll need to find an agent that can work with you. Most big companies wont take unsolicited work without an agent. And one more thing.... I'm not sure what kind of poet you are or what kind of poems you write but if you want to get your work out there AND try to make a career... look into writing poems for children with illustrations. ~you can call me crazy~ but I've got a gut feeling that would make it big. -if your interested in working with me just let me know. :) I wish you the best of luck!
