WILL BECOME FAN AND GIVE MEDAL what is the difference between participle and verb?
A participle is a verb form that can be used as an adjective but cannot be the only verb in a sentence. In contrast, a verb can stand alone in a sentence.
thank you but can u give me an example one for each?
Participle: Harold IS WASHING his car. Washing must be accompanied by "is" to be a complete sentence. Verb only: Harold washed his car yesterday.
thank u yur the best :)
Are you cooking a special birthday dinner?
what does that count as?
cooking
"Cooking" would just be a regular verb since there isn't a helping verb next to it.
oh so it needs a helping verb? makes more sense
Yes participle verbs use a helping verb.
what about thios one My cousin told me to hold my nose and puff my cheeks to get rid of the hiccups. told
Regular verb. If it was a participle verb, it would say something like "My cousin HAS told me to hold my nose and puff my cheeks to get rid of the hiccups."
what about this oneI don't mind using recycled tissue paper
@umad_bro33
Regular verb. Do you understand what i mean by the helping verb? In the sentence you just gave me, notice that there isn't a helping verb before the regular verb.
yes thx
