One of the grievances the colonists had against the King in the Declaration of Independence states, "He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures." What does this complaint mean? It states that the king called for meetings with legislatures and made them travel great distances just to wear them out, so they would submit to what he asked of them. It states that the King can makes judges dependent on him and influenced by him since he is in charge of appointing them. It states that the King refused to pass laws to accommodate large districts of people unless they gave up their rights of representation. It states that legislatures were put on trial without a fair trial by jury.
